West Coast Road Trip | Day Six: Blaine & Seattle

Walking in Blaine next morning, we found a place to have a peaceful breakfast. Have a walk and continue our road trip to Seattle. It is almost time to get back home!

I love border cities, as they are cross points between different people, cultures and traditions. Most of times, you can find interesting and different simple things to enjoy that you cannot find anywhere else. Blaine has its own interesting aspects as well. A small city that is calm and peaceful with several gift shops and cafes, along with local restaurants. Like any other small city, shops close very soon and you have few chances to spend your late night time there. We had a bit of hard time finding somewhere to get some drink and food at 10:30pm.

Unlike many other border cities, there is actually no visible border! You just cross a street and you are in Canada! Of course there is an official border office that cars need to pass through to get there and come back, but you still can see houses and apartments on the other side. There is a memorial building just on the border, so you can pass through is and have some fun time in between of United States and Canada soil!

To Seattle

It`s around 12:00 at noon, and we decided to lead our road trip back to Seattle, home of first Starbucks coffee shop! As we arrived, we headed to fish market, located near Seattle Aquarium. this place is full of people walking around, buying fish and flowers and taking photos of interesting shops and products. This place is definitely worth visiting and spending some quality time. Then when you get tired, stop by of one of those great seafood restaurants and try fresh fishes. I tried Jack`s Fish Spot and enjoyed the specially cooked Salmon. Another attraction you might enjoy around here, is Gum wall. Get down there and take some selfies or have fun with friends!

After Fish Market, we had a walk in downtown area. Again, it is cleaner than what I experience in Los Angeles, and seems to be more enjoyable. During the night, it is good to have a walk beside waterfront and enjoy good the Seattle scene at night.

For the night, we stayed at a motel outside of Seattle. We need to rest well, because we have a very long way to Orange County. It is time to put an stop to this road trip.

Tip: Try Local food

Is it look as a silly tip? but trust me doing this instead of bringing canned food from home have several benefits. It is a good memory to remember and tell about when you eat at a local cafe or restaurant (I mean those local places that are just in that city, not a branch of a giant chain restaurant). A taco truck, small cafe at the corner and lots of other places can make this chance to experience what locals have during their life. It gets more important in small cities, because it can be a help for them to build up more budget to keep going on. And by the way, do not forget the tip! This is United States.
